Your childrens' and babies photographs are taken at a sitting in your own home. The photo shoot is all about what you want and will be relaxing and stress-free.
Karen, your photographer, travels to your home and sets up a studio (backdrop and studio lights) in your living room or other suitable space. An area of around 6 foot by 6 foot is needed and there has never been a problem in finding enough space. It takes 20 to 30 minutes to set up the home studio.
Next Karen takes a bit of time to get to know you and the children. She will show you some examples of her photographs and find out what styles you like and what photographs you are hoping for from the shoot. Babies and children can get familiar with her during this time so they are more relaxed when the photos are being taken.
The sitting itself normally lasts for around an hour but this is completely flexible depending on the children. Some are shy and take a long time to ‘warm up’ while others get very excited but lose interest after 20 minutes. You will probably need breaks for snacks or nappy changes or we may need to wait for the baby to wake up from a nap. Karen works around what is best for you and your children.
Children can play with their own toys and generally just be themselves while Karen snaps away. She may ask them to sit in certain places or do certain things but the emphasis is on natural, rather than posed images.
There should be a parent or guardian present but you don’t need to feel that you have to worry about making the children pose or smile. The best photographs come from acting naturally.
After the sitting Karen processes the images, cropping and retouching to make them perfect. A week or so later she returns to your home to show you the finished images. She’ll also show you examples of print sizes, frames and albums that you might want to buy. There is no hard sell – just order the ones you love!
Soon afterwards you’ll receive your photographs. Hopefully you’ll think wow and look forward to showing them off to friends and family as well as keeping them forever to remember how cute and gorgeous your children are!
